We are excited to launch an initiative to enhance the original ballfield in Malcolm–a field that was first built almost 40 years ago. Up until 2023 this field was used for ALL youth and high school softball and baseball teams (roughly 15-20 teams per year). The Field of Dreams project gave the community a true softball field and a multiuse youth field. The plans for this renovation will turn the original field into a true and updated baseball field. This will complete the look of our complex and be something our small town community can take pride in.
Engineered plans have already been designed and include:
Creating a grass infield and providing more space in the outfield
Creating new and bigger dugouts
Creating a bullpen behind each dugout
Updating the lighting (replacing the outdated wood poles and adding LED lights)
Replacing the fencing
Adding safer and more bleacher seating for our fans
As you can imagine, this all comes with a hefty price tag. We have set a goal of raising $550,000 and hope to gain this through grants along with corporate and private donations. We also have a quick timeline. Ideally, we would like to start construction yet this fall and have most of it complete by the 2025 spring baseball season.
